Cornerways is a Grade II listed Victorian property, situated on the corner of Warwick Road and Hartington Place, approximately 500 yards from the centre of Carlisle. The bus station is some 450 yards, a 5 to 6 minute walk. The ‘West Coast Main Line’ railway station is about 600 yards away, or a 6 to 8 minute walk. There is a taxi rank adjacent to both stations. The nearest shops, bars and restaurants are situated at the city centre end of Warwick road, about a 5 minute walk away. We are 1.25 miles from junction 43 of the M6 motorway, join Warwick Road, and follow signs towards Carlisle City centre & railway station, Cornerways can be found on the right hand side of Warwick Road. Private parking is available via a ramped driveway to the side of the property. There is also ample on street parking in surrounding streets, for which we can provide free parking vouchers.
Access to the front entrance door is via 7 steps up from pavement level, each step is 6” (153mm) in depth, there is a hand rail to one side of the steps. Access to the front door from the driveway is via 4 steps up. There are 2 ‘grab handles’ positioned either side of the front porch. The single front door is 42” (1070mm) wide.
The reception area / hallway is part carpeted, the remainder being laid to original Victorian tiles, there is also a 3 seater settle. The breakfast room is located on the ground floor. The door width is 33” (860mm.) All dining chairs have firm back support. The first floor is accessed from the hallway via the main staircase which has 23 steps up to the first floor landing; the stairs are 41” (1030mm) wide. There is a hand rail / balustrade to one side of the staircase and grab handles located at the top of the stairs. Hallway / landing widths vary between 34” (807mm) & 69” (1705mm). The second floor is accessed via a further 21 step staircase, with step widths of 31” (709mm) there is a hand rail to one side. Bedroom door & toilet door widths are between 26” (660mm) & 34” (860mm) wide. All bedrooms are fully carpeted, guest shower rooms / en-suites have either tiled or non-slip linoleum flooring.
There are no ground floor bedrooms, all guest rooms are situated on either the first or second floor. All bedrooms have remote control colour Televisions with 'Freeview' Digital channels with subtitle facility. There is no elevator in the property. We offer complimentary WiFi broadband Internet access which is available to all rooms. It is with regret that we cannot accept pets, however assistance dogs are welcome. Large print breakfast menus are available on request. All rooms have raised numbers. We would be pleased to assist guests with their luggage.
In the event of fire there are two main escape routes, one via the internal stairs via the front door, the other being via the fire escape at the rear of the property, a loud, continuous fire alarm bell will sound in case of emergency, full evacuation procedures are detailed in every room, there are also door signs for guests with a hearing impediment. Hallways are well lit. We operate a strict non-smoking policy throughout the property.
